The City Council will consider the approval of a Resolution naming the month of May 2008 as “Pedestrian Safety Month” as part of the Pacific Grove Police Department’s ongoing efforts to promote pedestrian safety throughout the City.
Reference: Police Chief Engles
Recommended Action: Adopt the Resolution
Sometimes hard to see people crossing the street downtown, but please do try and look.
Even harder to see the pedestrians (or the pedestrians see cars) at Fountain & Lighthouse when delivery trucks block the crosswalk because someone that drives a gold Chevy pickup (presumably an employee of Victorian Corner) uses the “Loading Zone” as a personal all-day parking place.

All the time . .

Lazy ahole.
I was just walking tonight (around 6pm) and saw a car flying down Lighthouse right outside Juice n Java missed a mother and stroller by a matter of a couple of yards.
Where are the police when you need them? Good idea with the new yellow crosswalk signs, but I think 15mph signs should be posted more prevelantly. Too often I see cars racing through downtown. I’m sure if they posted a patrol car on 16th outside Juice n Java they would more than make their quota along with some much needed revenue for penniless PG. Vote “NO” on U!!!
I was nearly brushed by a rented Mustang whizzing down Lighthouse by the Post Office this morning. Time to raise your voice a bit, yell at the tourists. Start carrying a walking stick to wave (or smack) the bad drivers.
Automatic camera speed traps (like in Germany) that’s the solution on the downtown part of Lighthouse no cops required!
Though I’m liking the idea of smashing a speeding Benz with a stick.
Sticks usually make the point loud and clear.
