City Employees: You Can Be Replaced By Volunteers

Replacing workers with volunteers was in the plans all along!

City leaders are hoping to pass on Wednesday night the citywide program, in which college students can get valuable job experience while helping the city. The proposal deals more with office work and not hard manual labor.

“It’s a win win… when we first started talking about this (volunteer program) the economy wasn’t in the condition it’s in,” says Mayor Dan Cort.

  1. I agree with Handy, the prisoners program makes sense.
Really, volunteering is great–until it undermines the work force. Has anyone tried to get a (decent) job at the Aquarium lately? They seem to only hire people who have been volunteering there for like, ten years. Let’s see…who can afford to volunteer full-time for ten years other than rich folks who are bored and don’t need jobs?
